LEAD — Fairfield University Baseball Fairfield sweeps Mount St. Mary's, 2-1 / 11-7 / 5-4 — April 17–18
Fairfield University baseball swept the Mount St. Mary's series at Cook Field on April 17–18, winning all three games to stabilize the program's MAAC standing heading into the final stretch. The Stags won the opener on April 17 by a score of 2-1 behind a fifth-inning solo home run from Matt Bucciero, who went on to win the MAAC Player of the Week award after batting .571 with four home runs and seven RBI on the week. He became the first Fairfield player to record 200 career RBI. Fairfield then took both games of Saturday's doubleheader on April 18 by scores of 11-7 and 5-4. The sweep moved Fairfield to 13-5 in MAAC play — still behind Rider in the conference — and was followed on April 21 by a 12-6 non-conference win at Fordham, the team's fourth consecutive victory. TJ Schmalzle drove in four runs at Fordham and Nolan Colby added a three-run home run in the eighth inning. Fairfield hosts Iona beginning April 24 in the final MAAC home series of the regular season.

COLLEGE ROUNDUP
Fairfield University women's lacrosse closed the regular season on April 18 with a 17-7 home win over Marist, finishing 13-3 overall and 8-0 in the MAAC — unbeaten in conference play for the full regular season. Kyleigh Tufano led with five goals and Kelly Haggerty added four. The Stags enter the MAAC Championship as the top seed and will host the semifinals on Friday, May 1, and the final on Sunday, May 3, at Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. The first round begins April 26 at the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. It is the program's seventh consecutive MAAC postseason appearance; the Stags have won the championship in six of the past seven postseasons.
Fairfield University men's lacrosse lost 12-5 to No. 17 Towson at Rafferty Stadium on April 18, falling to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the CAA. Towson clinched at least a share of the CAA regular season title with the win, its seventh consecutive victory. Rob Moore scored two goals and an assist to lead Fairfield, and defenseman Julian Radossich — the national leader in caused turnovers — added three more to his season total. The Stags close the regular season at Monmouth on April 25, where a win could keep them in contention for one of the four CAA Tournament berths.
What the Ledger Shows
- Fairfield University baseball's 3-0 sweep of Mount St. Mary's, followed by a 12-6 win at Fordham, gave the Stags four straight wins and moved them to 13-5 in the MAAC. With Rider still ahead and Iona next on the schedule beginning April 24, the remaining games directly shape MAAC Championship seeding.
- Fairfield University women's lacrosse enters the MAAC Championship as the top seed with an 8-0 conference record. The program has not lost a MAAC regular season game. The tournament begins April 26.
- At the high school level, Fairfield Warde's 6-5 girls lacrosse win over St. Joseph on April 21 was the week's most competitive result from a Fairfield program — a one-goal decision in a sport where Warde has been building results throughout the month.
