The winter season has closed with two defining outcomes: a state final appearance at the high school level and a sustained conference run at the college level. As spring schedules begin, those completed seasons establish the local benchmark before standings reset.

Fairfield Prep’s boys hockey season ended one step short of a title, finishing as CIAC Division I runner-up after a 3–2 loss to New Canaan on March 23. The program advanced through a one-goal semifinal to reach the final and held the championship game within a single goal into the third period. Chris Carr recorded 30 saves in the final, and Connor Driscoll scored in both the semifinal and final rounds. The result concludes the winter season locally with one team reaching a state final.

Fairfield University’s women’s basketball program closed its season with a first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Notre Dame on March 21, finishing 28–5 overall and securing a third consecutive MAAC championship and NCAA appearance. The three-year run marks the most sustained period of success in program history, with repeated conference titles and national tournament qualification establishing Fairfield as a consistent MAAC leader.

Across those three seasons, Fairfield has combined conference regular-season positioning with postseason execution, converting top seeds into tournament championships and NCAA bids. The NCAA result concludes the season, but the program’s trajectory reflects continuity rather than a single-year outcome.

High school spring schedules are now underway across baseball and lacrosse, with the first full week of FCIAC play beginning to produce results.

In baseball, Fairfield Warde opened its schedule with a 5–3 win over Fairfield Ludlowe on March 31. Warde pitching limited Ludlowe to three runs, and the offense produced timely hits. Notre Dame–Fairfield also began its SCC schedule during this window.

In boys lacrosse, Fairfield Ludlowe recorded a 12–8 win over Warde on March 30 to open FCIAC play. Ludlowe’s attack unit generated consistent scoring, while Warde remained within reach through the third quarter before the margin widened. Notre Dame–Fairfield also opened its lacrosse schedule within the SCC.

In girls lacrosse, Fairfield Warde opened with a 13–7 win over Ludlowe on March 31, with multiple multi-goal scorers contributing and the defense limiting second-half opportunities.

At the college level, conference play is now the organizing structure across spring sports.

Fairfield baseball continued MAAC play with a series win over Iona, including a 6–2 victory on March 29. Fairfield pitching controlled the middle innings, and the offense produced extra-base hits.

Fairfield softball split MAAC play during this window, including a 5–4 win on March 30. Peyton Shields earned the win, and the offense produced late scoring.

Fairfield men’s lacrosse recorded a conference result on March 29, continuing early-season play as positioning begins to form.

Fairfield women’s lacrosse continued non-conference play with a road result on March 30, with balanced scoring across the lineup.

Sacred Heart University’s spring programs also entered conference play during this window. Sacred Heart baseball recorded a Northeast Conference result on March 29, while softball split conference games, including a one-run victory on March 30. Sacred Heart men’s and women’s lacrosse also continued conference schedules, with early results contributing to positioning.
